Leon Henry, MSW, LCSW
Bio

I specialize in working with children and families who are struggling with behavioral challenges. I utilize a strengths-based approach that is solution-oriented and rooted in the narrative perspective. I believe that problems do not define a person, and I help people use words to externalize, and take power over, their issues. Moreover, I work with patients to rewrite old and harmful life narratives into new comforting, more sustainable stories.

In addition to my work with A&C, I am the Clinical Supervisor of the Social Work Department for the Medical Center at UVA. I have worked as a Program Coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club as well as in residential treatment for children with behavioral challenges in western Massachusetts. The majority of my career was spent at the Department of Children and Families, which is the State Child Protective Agency of Massachusetts. During my 13 years of employment at DCF, I was blessed to work in many capacities up through being in a management role.

I was raised in the Bronx, NY. I attended S.U.N.Y Oswego in N.Y and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Wellness Management. I received my MSW with a focus in Clinical Studies at Westfield University in Massachusetts.

My passion is spending time with my family (kids ages 18, 14, 7 and 2) and engaging in and attending athletic events. I was a member of my High School and College Wrestling Teams.

Currently, I am accepting patients on a part-time basis. I work out of the Charlottesville- Pantops office and also provide teletherapy
