I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Colorado and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Rhode Island with 30+ combined years of experience working in schools and in private practice. During a sociology internship in college, where I was placed in a Chicago Public School, I realized I was far more interested in talking to students about what was going on at home than I was in teaching math. I took psychology classes at NYU after ski instructing for a year and eventually applied to the Teachers College at Columbia University in New York, where I earned my master’s degree in Psychological Counseling.
I’ve worked with many populations over the decades, from adult psychiatric patients in NYC to school-aged kids in Colorado, to young adults and adults in Rhode Island in private practice. I love working with UVA students and adults here in Charlottesville, helping them find their footing and balance during difficult times, through expected and unexpected life transitions, and in challenging relationships.
When I’m not working, I like spending time with my three children and our dog, Wrigley. I’m a huge sports fan, and enjoy writing, hiking, skiing, traveling with family and friends, and live music.
