I specialize in therapy with children, teens, and adults struggling with life transitions, ADHD, anxiety, depression, substance use, addiction, and academic problems. If you or your child is having a hard time with relationships, behavior concerns, worry, getting things done, or stress/pressure, I can help. I work to build strong relationships with clients that all them to try new things, heal from previous experiences, and feel hopeful about the future. I believe that every person is important and has a story to tell; I am honored to listen.
I take a client-centered approached to therapy, aiming to foster growth using each client’s strengths. Additionally, I will use techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy to address specific challenges in a client’s life. I also include motivational therapy and strive to help people find and pursue the things in life that bring them the most meaning. I aim for my clients to feel motivated and supported in therapy.
I grew up in West Virginia and attended William and Mary for my undergraduate degree (History) and VCU for both my graduate degree (School Counseling) and additional coursework to work as a professional counselor. Prior to working at Active and Connected, I was a teacher at Collegiate School and a school counselor at Douglas Freeman High School.
I am Resident in Counseling under the supervision of Matt Browning, LPC. I provide face-to-face therapy in our Richmond office and teletherapy across Virginia and am in-network with Aetna and Cigna. I live in Richmond with my wife and daughter and love spending time outside and with our extended family.
