Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor, and I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS) and other emotion regulation, mood, and life transition concerns. I am particularly passionate about working with people experiencing adjustments related to the foreign service lifestyle and new parents. As a mother, spouse, and Eligible Family Member (EFM) in the foreign service, I have firsthand experience with the complexities of relocating your family internationally every few years.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. I have experience and training working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and I have received perinatal mental health training from Postpartum Support International and the Seleni Institute. My approach is to blend these methods based on a client’s goals and needs to engage in trauma processing, learning coping skills, mindfulness practices, thought and behavior changes, and acceptance practices. I incorporate wellness education into sessions to support the connection between our body and mind. I use each of these approaches to help clients make the necessary changes they want to see for themselves and to help their lives become more fulfilling by setting and reaching their own goals.
While living abroad, I enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures and languages, and spending time outside practicing yoga, gardening, hiking, or simply being with my husband, children, and our beloved dog.
I offer virtual therapy sessions to clients located in Virginia or abroad and connected to a US Embassy.
