Bio

Hi! My name is Kate, and I am a resident in counseling under the supervision of Amanda Barnes, LPC and Amanda Sovik-Johnston, Ph.D.! I specialize in supporting adolescents, adults, college students, and athletes who may be experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, life transitions, ADHD, relationship concerns, eating disorders, identity exploration, and grief and loss. Mygoal is to support you in developing the tools to heal, grow, and build meaningful connections.

I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and supportive environment where you can show up exactly as you are. I value authenticity, compassion, creativity, diversity, humor, and openness, and I believe therapy should be a space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered. Together, we'll work toward creating a life that aligns with your values while honoring your unique strengths and goals.

My approach to counseling is highly flexible and integrative, tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach in session, grounded in the belief that each person is the expert on their own life. I believe you already have everything you need to create a beautiful life, and I’m honored to walk alongside you on that journey.

I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri, where I gained clinical experience in both community mental health and college counseling settings. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Belmont Abbey College, where I was a member of the women's lacrosse team for four years. Before becoming a counselor, I also worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, providing behavioral therapy to individuals with autism.

Outside of the office, you’ll find me going on adventures with my golden retriever, Moose, spending time with friends, doing anything active or outdoors, and coaching girls' lacrosse in the community!

Currently, I provide in-person and tele-therapy services in Virginia and work out of the Arlington/Alexandria and Falls Church offices.
