I specialize in counseling children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and other challenges. I also work with parents, families and athletes. I have been an elementary school counselor in Charlottesville for 22 years and earned my master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia in 2003. I am a resident in counseling under the supervision of Matthew Browning, LPC.
I am passionate about helping children and adolescents overcome challenges and thrive. Mental wellness is a journey and I strongly believe that we all need help along the way. It is a privilege and joy to support my clients. I believe the foundation for counseling work is building a strong relationship with clients and creating a safe and supportive environment. I use a strength-based approach, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), social and emotional skill building, and play therapy.
I also specialize in working with athletes interested in improving their performance and addressing the unique challenges competitive athletes face. I was a 7-time National Champion in synchronized platform diving and a bronze medalist at the 1999 World Championships.
Charlottesville is a beautiful place to live and in my free time I like to go on outdoor adventures with my children and two dogs–hiking, swimming, and paddleboarding.
