Morgan Lanier, LPC
Bio

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience as a helping professional in Virginia. I specialize in working with children, teens, and families struggling with risky/aggressive behaviors, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and lifelong psychiatric disorders, including Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and/or Schizoaffective Disorders. I also help families with young children learn to improve their ability to manage their feelings in a healthy way, solve problems, and improve communication. No matter the difficulty, I work towards partnering with clients and families to help them improve their communication, feelings of connection, and ability to understand and manage their emotions. I am collaborative and strengths-based in sessions, and apply a cognitive behavioral approach through my relationship with families and young folks in a way that can make therapy feel more accessible and less intimidating. I walk-and-talk outside when possible, use humor in my sessions, and balance warmth and empathy with expectations for change. I have worked with teens and children in a variety of settings around Virginia and have experience working in residential settings providing intensive treatments for both teens and adults. Throughout the therapeutic process, I strive to help my clients develop a toolbox of healthy coping strategies, understand themselves more, and move toward positive change by setting healthy and attainable goals.

I am an avid fisherman and enjoy fishing from the mountains of Virginia to the outer banks of North Carolina. My favorite way to spend free time is going on camping trips to the beach with my wife, eight-year-old daughter, and five-year-old son.
